Bay fishing is also known as inshore fishing. If you’re interested in Bay fishing, light tackle and live bait can target species like Redfish, Drum, Black Snapper, Trout, Flounder, and do on. Boats for bay fishing are usually smaller and can accommodate around 4-6 people, depending on the boat. It is is perfect choice for small groups or families looking to catch fish without having to cop high seas. Whitsundays Trolling Fishing.
Trolling is a type of fishing where one or more fishing lines that are baited with bait fish or lures are drawn through the water. There are two major ways you can troll; close to the beach (inshore) or miles away (offshore). Our boat is capable of doing both. You just have to consider the type of fish you are after, and the company you are with.
Inshore trolling trips will target Spanish mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, King Mackerel, Bonito and so on.
For offshore trolling, it requires live baits and a longer trip to get to the deeper waters so we recommend full day Charters.. We take a max. of 4 passengers for our Airlie beach fishing charters. Target fish are Black Fin Tuna, Sailfish, King Mackerel,
Whitsundays Bottom Fishing.
Bottom fishing is done in deep water while using live or cut bait, floating over fishing wrecks and reefs. You can bottom fish year round targeting a variety of, Groupers, Snappers, Triggers, Amberjack, and Lesser Amberjack amongst others. For Bottom fishing, long trips aren’t necessary and you do it on half or 3/4 day trips. Bottom fishing is also quite popular with our family and beginner groups who haven’t developped their sea legs yet.
